Victorian illustrated cats

Ever felt like dunking your cat in a vat of dye? No? Good! Here’s a poem for those who do.

Hey there, human, yes you, come close, take a seat,
Let’s chat about cat care, and what not to repeat.
These old-timey pics, a strange sight to behold,
But here’s what they teach, in laughs be it told.

Take a look at poor kitty, not keen on a soak,
As a child forces water, it’s no time to joke.
“Just some sips, please, I’m fine,” the feline did plead,
“In a cat’s book of rules, that’s all that we need.”

In the next quirky pic, it’s a feline retreat,
From a goat on the prowl to a hasty defeat.
Lesson learned, keep it calm, avoid the commotion,
Instead, show them kindness with love and devotion.

Now here comes the cologne, it’s a fancy affair,
But our feline friend finds the scent hard to bear.
A spritz may be nice, if you’re out on the town,
But for kitty, a sniff‘s enough to bring on a frown.

“Dunk me in dye?” cat says with a glare,
“This isn’t the look that I wanted to wear.
I’m not a red sweater, nor part of your art,
Keep the dye for your threads, and we won’t have to part.”

And lastly, that kitten, in a boot oh so tight,
Squeezed into a shoe, it just isn’t right.
“A shoe’s not a bed, it’s not even a hat,
I’m not an accessory, please remember that.”

So snap a pic, make it funny, add a meme if you dare,
But with your furry friend, always handle with care.
Victorian pics, a lesson in what not to do,
Modern day rules, from meow to you.
